"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"
Our world has changed dramatically in the last 48 hours. Two nights ago, Nicholas finally mastered the skill of crib escape. He's done it before but with the mattress now on the lowest setting, the crib is officially obsolete. No more security for Mommy and Daddy. No more peace of mind knowing he's safe and sound in his wooden fortress. The first night was really rough because he was just so proud of himself! I tried a hundred different methods of getting him to stop climbing out but the night ended with me sleeping on the floor next to his crib so I could intercept his attempts. So, the decision was quickly made to switch the crib to a full size bed in order to protect him from a fall. This is a picture of our temporary fix while we wait for the bed rails we ordered. As soon as he saw his new big boy bed his eyes lit up! We had a good long talk before bedtime and I explained all the rules and regulations of sleeping without walls. Although I was fully prepared for another rough night, he didn't get up one time! I was very pleasantly surprised and extremely proud of him. My fingers are still crossed for the next few nights to come. Pray for us!!! :-)
