Playing Hookie

Greg was in a class today so I took the morning off from work and stayed home to spend some time with my boy. We had a great day swimming and playing in the backyard! He had so much fun that we went back out in the afternoon too. He's not all that into swimming just yet but he looooooves playing in his pint-size pool. He also got to experience the deliciousness of Flavor-ice! We devoured quite a few of those and he especially loved the melted juice at the end. In fact, once he figured that out he wanted me to take care of eating the ice so he could just enjoy the juice. We had the absolute perfect day!

In other news, Nicholas has moved from his high chair to a booster seat at the table. He's loving it so far but we still have to remind him from time to time that sitting at the table means he must act like a big boy. We still have the high chair sitting in the corner to remind him where he might end up if he doesn't behave, but he's doing pretty good so far! There's practically no baby left anywhere in him! :-(

Checking in...

Not much new here. Just got home from spending another wonderful weekend at the lake and letting Nicholas enjoy his favorite thing in the entire world. Aunt Cindy, Uncle Ryan, and sweet little Jillian were there too which greatly increased the fun level. We just wanted to say "Hi" and hope you all had a great weekend too!

Water Balloon Fight!

I got the idea a few days ago that it was time to introduce Nicholas to some old fashioned summer fun......WATER BALLOONS!!!!!! He had a blast getting soaked and watching the water explode everywhere, and I had a blast watching him and taking pictures.

And of course, the water hose is always fun too.

And now for the big finale......Greg was throwing the balloons on the roof of Nicholas' playhouse so the water would soak him without directly hitting him. Well, I think you can probably tell by the trajectory seen here that he kind of missed his mark. This picture! THIS PICTURE! Oh yes, it is definitely going down in the history books. (Note: No children were harmed in the making of this picture. I swear, he was fine! Otherwise I would have deleted it and completely denied that it ever existed.)

Bowling 101

Bowling pins? Check. Set up in the proper position? Check. Bowling ball? Ah, who needs it!! Nicholas has devised his own bowling technique, which usually consists of him plowing the pins over with his tricycle like he's driving in a demolition derby. That's what I was trying to catch on video but he was acting a little more cautious this time. Oh well, I thought it was hilarious anyway. He's our little comedian.

A Little Piece of Heaven

This year's 4th of July weekend was extra special. On Saturday, Greg, Nicholas, Sydney, and I all loaded up and hit the road to Mimi and Papa's new lake house in Eufaula. Thanks to Hurricane Alex, it rained and rained, then rained some more but we didn't let it hamper our fun one bit! The house is beautiful with the gorgeous lake right in the backyard. It also has a dock where we can park the boat. I wish I had a video of Nicholas' first look at the view. He walked right up to the windows (which just happen to be the perfect height for him), saw the lake and shouted "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!" He was in heaven watching all the boats whiz by all afternoon. We heard "da boat?!" 2, 256 times. I know, I counted. He also got to go on a few boat rides and do some fishing with Daddy. And speaking of Daddy, he couldn't resist making a stop at one of the many fireworks stands for his little boy. As he set them off over the water that night, Nicholas kept saying "More again, please!" He was a happy little guy. The next morning, Nicholas jumped out of bed, grabbed his life jacket and stood at the door waiting to go for his morning boat ride. He was a precious sight! Yep, this house is going to be so much fun for years to come and he will have the absolute best memories of growing up there.

We got home Sunday afternoon and Grammy and Papa came to take him for a sleepover at their house. The perfect end to the perfect weekend. Life is definitely good!! Happy 4th of July!!

View of the back of the house. The windows are fabulous!

View from the back patio. Incredible!

It's a little hard to tell, but I wanted to show off our matching 4th of July shirts. Yes, I'm a dork....and I love it!
Thank you Mimi & Papa!
