Twice in one year! Are you kidding me with this?! Apparently when we moved to our new house we moved into the Bermuda Triangle, Tornado Alley or the Bear Cave, as I heard the weather guys affectionately refer to it yesterday. Many of you might recall the tornado Greg and I lived through last March while I was pregnant. Well, we just did it again. It happened around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. I watched the weather as it projected the line coming straight for us so I loaded up the bathroom with pillows and blankets and supplies and locked Nicholas, Sydney, and myself in for the ride. All I could think of to protect Nicholas was his car seat, so I strapped him in and covered him with soft blankets and pillows, leaving only his cute little face visible. He was such a good little boy, patiently sitting there watching my every move. (Once it passed and I had a second to get my wits about me, I realized how precious he looked and had to snap a picture of him for posterity. You can almost hear him saying "Bring it on, tornado".) As I heard the storm go over, I hunkered over him to protect him while talking to Greg on the phone. He was working and trying to get home to us but practically drove right through it in the process! At that point, all my fear switched gears to him out in the middle of that mess! All the noise only lasted probably a few seconds but obviously it felt like forever. Thankfully, by the grace of God, we were safe and the house was unharmed. The only damage was to the fence on both sides of the yard which you can see for yourself. From all the news reports, it sounds like the beast was just forming as it went over us and traveled on to do some severe damage a few blocks to the northeast and continued for a few miles. So far there are no reports of fatalities, or even injuries for that matter. Which is really miraculous after watching the video of it! It took me a few beers and some sleep (I could use more....of both) to calm down after it was all over!! Anyway, all's well that ends well and we'll be adding the event to our list of memorable moments!
Thank God for fluffy bedding! Really though I'm glad you guys are all ok.
ReplyDeleteNicholas says: "It's okay, mom. I'm the man of the house while dad is out saving the world, and we've got this thing licked!"
ReplyDeleteTHANK GOD you all are safe! Plus, look how big your backyard is now!
He is such a GOOD BOY!! You were so wise to buckle him into his carseat to protect him. You are a great mommy!!!
