Date with Kacee

About a week before the whole flu fiasco (Greg & I ended up getting it too!), Nicholas and I had a play date with our very good friends Ashlee and Kacee. We went to the park and had a ton of fun swinging, climbing, and sliding and then topped it off with Happy Meals at McDonald's. Here are some pictures of the kiddos playing, compliments of Ashlee.

The Flu

Poor little Nicholas came down with the flu this week in spite of having the flu shot last fall. And it wasn't pretty in the least. I've officially lived through the scariest moments I've had as a parent so far and it wasn't something I ever want to go through again. It started Monday when he woke up from his nap. He had been a little under the weather beforehand and woke up with a burning fever and shaking all over with chills. I grabbed the thermometer and about passed out when I read 104.8! I immediately gave him a dose of Tylenol and put him in a luke warm bath. I knew it had to be done but his reaction just about pulled my heart right out of my chest. He kept crying and yelling "COLD! COLD!" so I did what any mother would do and I jumped in with him, holding him and trying to comfort him. His fever stayed pretty high throughout the night and spiked one other time to 105. We called the after hours nurse twice and kept getting told he wasn't in any danger and to wait for his pediatrician tomorrow. Tall order when you see your child burning up with fever and completely lethargic. We stayed up most of the night watching him closely and just giving him as much love as we possibly could. Greg and I were both beside ourselves with fear that at any moment he would start having a seizure. At around 2:30 his fever finally went down and he was able to rest comfortably the remainder of the night. We got into the doctor the next morning where he was tested for Influenza and obviously came up positive. We got him some Tamiflu and now he's doing much better, although still not himself. There's nothing scarier than seeing your baby so sick and I don't think I'll ever forget it.

An Afternoon Stroll

Spring is in the air and we couldn't be happier about it!! Nicholas and I wanted to take advantage of the sunshine so we took a walk to the pond to feed the ducks and geese. Always a good time!

21 Months Old....and Sick

Our boy marked his 21 month milestone with a visit to the doctor for some antibiotics. He's got a really bad sinus infection that's caused him to suffer quite a bit the last few days. Tons of sneezing, coughing, vomiting, you name it. I knew it was bad this evening when he wouldn't even get off the couch or eat the ice cream Grandma & Grandpa brought him! That just isn't my Nicholas. It breaks my heart to see him so sick but he's been getting plenty of TLC!
